About My Clients
My background consists of working for a Crisis/Suicide Hotline, a residential treatment center, an emergency foster care shelter, and the Local Mental Health Authority of Travis County. I have experience working with trauma and abuse survivors, LGBTQIA+ clients, foster and adoption, Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, anxiety and depression disorders, and general life transitions.
My Background and Approach
Reaching out for help as an individual or a parent can be anxiety provoking and it is my goal to be as transparent about therapy and mental health treatment as possible to ensure you feel comfortable with choosing me to be your therapist. I approach therapy by providing unconditional positive regard to all clients no matter where they may be on their journey to healing and utilize humor to deepen relationships and personal insight. I do my best to balance gentle confrontation with knowing when a client isn’t ready to tackle a certain issue just yet. I provide individual therapy to clients 12 years old to adulthood. I also offer parent coaching to caregivers to help further the progress in the home and give support to parents who are experiencing burnout. I offer a free 15-minute consultation call to discuss if I would be the right fit for you or your teen.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe therapy, insurance, and the mental health field should be as transparent as possible. It is hard enough to reach out for help without feeling your therapist is hiding information from you or isn't explaining the process as clearly as they can. I encourage my clients to challenge me or provide feedback at every step of the way. My goal for all of my clients is they leave feeling empowered to ask for what they need from me and others in their life. I consider myself to be an ally/accomplice to the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC community. I do my best to educate myself outside of therapy on anti-racism, HAES, sex worker issues, and any other marginalized communities that may have been harmed in the past by the mental health system.
