About My Clients
I work with my clients to provide a safe, comfortable environment in which to explore and accept the full scope of their authentic self. Too often we are told by society that we are different, unwelcome; I work to provide a space of comfort for my clients to share, explore, and create greater feelings of self-acceptance and fulfillment.
My Background and Approach
I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas. I worked for over 5 years in residential addictions treatment and specialize in trauma processing, psychoeducation, and solution-oriented approaches. I work with adults only and am a kink-, poly-, and LGBTQ+ affirming counselor. I tend to be direct and challenging in my approach but not without understanding the importance of warmth and humor in the healing process. Throughout the therapeutic experience with me, you can expect to gain insight, awareness, and validation around any troublesome patterns and issues within your life. I see myself as a helper who provides insight and tools into managing life stressors and trauma responses. I enjoy a collaborative approach and look forward to working with you on how best to help you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am part of the LGBTQ+ community and place a strong emphasis on advocacy in both my personal and professional life. I enjoy volunteer opportunities such as working with the local animal shelter or participating in community activities such as cleaning up local parks and recreation areas. I have strong beliefs and values about the importance of advocacy and making a stand against injustice and inequality inherent in our society as well as providing a safe space for those who need it.
