About My Clients
My clients are those who want support in finding their balance and confidence as they walk towards their goals. They have a strong sense of belonging with like-minded people in the LGBTQ+, BIPOC/NB Ally, and neurodivergent communities, who sometimes feel discouraged by the invalidating messaging of mainstream society. They see that the world at large needs to change, but sometimes struggle to maintain positive change in their own personal lives. I would love to help make that happen!
My Background and Approach
I was raised in a small tobacco-town in Kentucky, earned my Master's in Clinical Social Work at the University of Kentucky, and was educated-by-experience in south Saint Petersburg, Florida. I have worked with all ages, both in acute inpatient and community-based outpatient settings. These widely varied experiences have shaped a unique approach to my practice. I am an integrative therapist using elements of Mindfulness Based, Strengths Based, Person Centered and Solution Focused therapeutic modalities. I believe people are complex and dynamic, as are the stressors that people face, therefore there is no "one size fits all" approach to therapy. There is only "your size fits you", which we will explore through discussion about your passions, interests, daily struggles, relational conflicts and dynamics, and all of the ways that social stress intersects to impact your life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My core beliefs are grounded in secular humanism, but I do enjoy spiritual imagery as tools of personal reflection and empowerment. I have a strong sense of social justice and striving for the good of all, balanced by a knowledge that self-care is important, because each individual person in this world is an important member of that "all". I believe that there is no simple solution to any of the world's problems, but taking the time to slow down to enjoy cats, coffee and tacos is a good first-line defense.
