About My Clients
I opened this practice to work with women and queer folx who are ready to heal their relationship with their bodies in order to better navigate life’s challenges. When we feel disconnected from our bodies, when we feel self-conscious, when we feel like we don’t belong, everything is harder. We will work together to heal your relationship with your body, including (but not limited to) working to cope with anxiety and depression and undoing the damage of diet culture.
My Background and Approach
I embody a narrative worldview that believes that the person is not the problem, the problem is the problem. This worldview impacts all of my work. Each person is unique, so I use an eclectic approach to meet each client where they are and to decide together on the best ways to move forward. I received my MSW in 2004 and my personal training certification in 2013. I combine the two to help folks heal their relationships with movement and their bodies so that they can do what makes then happy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the transformational power of therapy. I believe in the transformational power of being truly seen. I believe you have all the answers inside you and that my job is to help you resource that innate wisdom.I believe in a holistic approach to therapy: we heal the mind and body. My goal is to help you feel better in both. One approach doesn’t work for all clients, so I meet you where you are, get to know you and then we decide together how to move forward.There is a lot of power in talk therapy, telling your story and really being listened to. I also think that doesn’t necessarily always help us move forward when utilized alone. Talk and action. Skill building, deep acceptance, thoughtful questions.
