About My Clients
I help clients who are seeking to rediscover joy in food and movement in addition to those seeking to improve their relationship with their bodies. Together, we work towards freedom from unrealistic cultural expectations and a return to innocence before experience. I have worked with all ages, backgrounds, and orientations. I welcome anyone who seeks to heal their relationship with food, movement, and how they relate to their inner experience.
My Background and Approach
My eating disorder and disordered eating training includes time working at Kartini Clinic, a clinic that treats kids with eating disorders, and courses on the treatment of eating disorders and trauma. We will also leverage my experience traveling and living all over the world, my MBA degree, and my diverse career and personal background while working with people. With that, we can safely explore topics generally seen as "taboo," such as money, sex, spirituality, and politics, all of which impact our worldview and how we relate to others. In the therapy room, I work with elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma, and Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT) through a Person-Centered and Feminist lens. My approach is culturally self-aware and humble, LGBTQ2IA+ aligned, and spiritually connected. I take the position of co-explorer as we navigate the treatment journey together. Wherever treatment takes us, we will always move together.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we are neither helpless nor capable of being broken and therefore shy away from the idea we need to be fixed. Instead, I see suffering as arising when we become disconnected from our values, when we lose contact with the here and now, and when we get swept up in our thoughts and emotions. Each of us possess the capacity for change. I see my clients as already possessing the attributes that serve as the spark for change and growth. Together, we will discover what is needed to reconnect with one’s values and make the shift from doing to being. In the therapy room, I exist with my clients in shared awareness as we seek understanding rather taking on the role of healer, teacher, or expert. Our relationship is held as sacred and is used as a vehicle for awakening to ourselves. Please feel free to connect if my profile resonates with you. It would be a pleasure to join you in healing your relationship with food, exercise, your body, and yourself.
