Transitions, even the ones that you are excited for, can still bring up feelings of anxiety and depression. As a therapist I specialize in working with trauma, perinatal mental health, and sexuality and gender identity. Perhaps you are struggling with depression, anxiety, or the impacts of trauma. Or maybe you're trying to navigate difficult life transitions, wanting to explore your identity, or seeking personal growth. Therapy is a powerful way to seek healing, and authentic relationship.
My Background and Approach
As a therapist I'm client centered, trauma-informed, and strength based. I look to utilize therapies that will allow you to address your specific goals, and needs. This may look like using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you understand more about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, or Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help you build coping skills for anxiety or depression. If you have experienced trauma, many people have found talk therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to be helpful. If you are an artist, musician, writer, or dancer, then Expressive Arts Therapy, and Narrative Therapy may interest you. My goal is to use the therapies that best address your goals, and highlight the strengths that you already possess. Aside from therapy, I can also offer gender affirming assessment, and letter writing. I also offer trauma-informed birth planning for those that have experienced sexual abuse, and birth trauma.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My decision to pursue a career as a therapist came from my own experience of healing that therapy can offer. Just as it was life changing for me, it's my honor to create a healing space for others. In order to create a safe place, I have committed myself to being a lifelong learner. Whether it is race, ability, gender, age, or sexuality, cultural competency is very important to me. Where I am an active member of the LGBTQIA community, and I have taken continuing education in providing affirming care, as well as gender affirming assessment and letter writing. I am also body and sex positive, and health at every size.
