Accepting Clients

Hi, I’m Cat. I have ADHD and work exclusively with other neurodivergent folks including autism, adhd and trauma.

Clinical Social Worker in Vermont

About My Clients

My clients often queer, BIPOC or poly in addition to being neurodivergent. We struggle to navigate a world that wasn’t designed for us and the way our brains work. It’s exhausting. We’ve had years of being misunderstood, often told we are lazy, unmotivated, inconsistent and full of unused potential. We suffer with feeling inadequate and imposter syndrome. We are bright and creative. We make connections and see a bigger picture that others don’t see. We are the innovators and entrepreneurs.

My Background and Approach

I have 25 years experience and at 54, I’ve embarked on a new adventure of self discovery and honoring how my brain works instead of forcing my square peg brain into another round hole. I have discovered the magic of working with my brain instead of against and I want to help you do the same. I’ve thrown out much of what I learned in graduate school. I want my clients to feel comfortable showing up authentically. If that’s wearing pajamas, great! I’m a pajama forward therapist. I now use therapy techniques with my clients such as IFS (Internal Family Systems) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) because they are non pathologizing and help us get to the deep work/root of your issues. I’m training in PAT (Psychedelic Assisted Therapy) which I will be able to legally and safely offer to my clients soon. You deserve better in life. Take my hand and I’ll journey along side you.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

We need different things than most folks, therefore I provide as much flexibility in our work as I can. We utilize texting as primary communication between sessions as many of my clients prefer it. Validation and empathy are important however my clients want to get to the roots of their issues. We go deep. Sometimes we go fast because our brains go fast. I, along with you will create a safe and sacred container for your deepest thoughts, feelings and experiences. I’ve found it most helpful to front load sessions, meeting more often in the beginning as we get to know each other and dive into the work, then less often as things get better, eventually moving to an as needed basis. You don’t need to be in therapy forever. This is an intense, time limited experience for most folks. Then you move on with your life, knowing I’m always available for a tune up. I am unable to take insurance. My brain can’t work with all that entails but I hope you’ll see this an investment in you.
