About My Clients
I specialize in working with people struggling with substance use, trauma, grief, depression, ADHD and anxiety. Self destructive behaviors are a way to cope with some underlying mental health issues and it is more effective to address the whole picture. My ideal client is someone who is open minded, wants to create a change for themself (but might not know how to do that), has a sense of humor, and is ready for something different.
My Background and Approach
I aim to have therapy be individualized and collaborative. We work as a team towards your goals. No one is more of an expert on your lived experienced than you - I want to hear all about it! have an eclectic approach and try to use a variety of different evidence based and brain/body interventions and strategies. My approach is warm, non-judgmental, direct, and I use humor to pace the sessions too. With a strong connection and rapport we will work together to help you gain insight, work towards solutions, decrease distress, and create meaningful change so that you can live the life that you deserve.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I value authenticity and integrity. Authenticity leads to connection with others and integrity leads to trust. I truly believe that people are not their actions or behaviors and everyone is just trying to do their best to survive and cope. I am very passionate about providing care to those within society that have been stigmatized in some way. I continue to challenge myself through education, training, and supervision to by multiculturally informed. I work with populations that have been oppressed, underserved, discriminated against, and marginalized in some way. I have experience working with those from many different socioeconomic backgrounds. I consider myself to be an ally to the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ community, the recovery community, and undocumented populations.
