About My Clients
I was trained in a Federally Qualified Healthcare Center, a place that tried to serve the New Orleans community by accepting all insurances, private and Medicaid, and working with the uninsured. I believe that therapy should be accessible to people. My ideal clients are open-minded, curious, and interested in getting to know themselves better. I am a queer therapist, and I have years of experience working with the queer community.
My Background and Approach
The building blocks of my therapy training were in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, a method that has us look at our thoughts and feelings to see how they impact our behavior. I have since built on that skill set to include psychodynamic, solution-focused, and mindfulness skills. I am trained in EMDR, a training that addresses traumatic memory using eye movements. Whether you need to process with a therapist, plan or strategize around an issue in your life, or learn specific skills to help you reduce anxiety, I feel comfortable working with you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In addition to being a therapist, I am also a writer. I feel that expressing oneself can be empowering, whether through writing, visual art, music, or any other creative pursuit. I am queer, and I believe it is essential to all queer people's empowerment to advocate for those most marginalized in the community, such as trans people of color. As a white, anti-racist person, I believe in continually educating myself and un-learning the white supremacist elements present in American culture. I believe that humans are inherently and equally worthy, but we live in a society that makes it difficult for some to enjoy a high quality of life.
