About My Clients
Many of my clients are Queer, Trans, Nonbinary, Gender Non-Conforming, Polyamorous, Consentually Non-Monogamous, Kinky, ADHD, Autistic, and/or have had experiences with trauma and oppression. Often they are looking to better understand and be understood by others, to heal and grieve past and ongoing hurt, and wanting to find ways to feel better.
My Background and Approach
My style is pretty conversational. I'll ask you questions, make comments about connections I see, and offer you information and perspective for your consideration. I won't just sit there and nod thoughtfully at you. Sometimes we might be playful together, sometimes we might be angry together, sometimes we might be sad together. I don't make my clients "do all the work," but many of my clients share that they appreciate being both validated and challenged. I bring compassion, curiosity, and directness to my work with my clients that allows us to hold space for the depth and importance of your experiences while also making space for new connections and possibilities. I honor what has gotten you where you are now and how it has kept you safe enough to be here. I also want to explore together how you can find more joy, connection, and fulfillment.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I use a social justice, and trauma-informed approach in my personal life and my work as a counselor. This means that I do a lot of personal work to understand how my identities and experiences impact how I show up in our sessions. I am also deeply invested in how your identities and experiences have impacted your life, what they mean to you, and how you experience our time together. I think it is crucial and sometimes even healing for us to see and name the ways that other people, our environment, and the society and culture we live in have impacted us.
