About My Clients

As I see it, therapy should be a collaborative process between two people who share an authentic, respectful, and trusting relationship. I like to take an active role in the therapy process, creating a space for you to define your goals, develop new tools, confront the challenges you're facing, and gain deeper understanding about yourself. I am a proud ally and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and have both received and provided special training in this area.

My Background and Approach

I've been in the mental health field for nearly two decades, and my sense of passion for the work grows year after year. Nothing excites me more than supporting people in fulfilling their potential. And though I operate within many traditional, evidence-based models of psychology, I also draw from a variety of other sources in my process of providing that support. I regularly incorporate concepts from Buddhism, Taoism, shamanism, and indigenous healing traditions to address the psychological, emotional, interpersonal, spiritual, communal, and ancestral dimensions as well. My work is trauma-informed, client-focused, solution-oriented, and mindfulness-based. In addition to working as a therapist, I also supervise therapists in training, teach graduate-level students, blog for Psychology Today, and lend my voice to podcast interviews and articles in publications like The New York Times, SELF Magazine, and The Guardian.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I'm a firm believer that as human beings, we never stop evolving——especially if we commit ourselves to learning, healing, and growing through the challenges that come our way. Therapy, as I see it, is a place to dig deep into ourselves and accelerate that process of evolution. As a therapist, I never lose sight of the fact that I'm not merely a clinical professional; I'm a human. Remembering that humanity means staying humble, authentic, receptive, and grounded in the therapy process. I can't be anyone but myself, and I try to bring that genuine self into the therapy process with every client I meet. As a person, I aim to walk my talk. That means engaging in my own personal therapy and healing practices, keeping a regular mindfulness practice, being a vocal ally for the LGBTQIA+ community, aiming to be an agent of positive change in the world, and actively supporting causes that promote human rights.
