About My Clients
My clients are adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, and/or grief. They would like to figure out how to improve their mood, learn coping strategies, and make changes for the better. I have experience in working with people who are new to therapy as well as those who have seen therapists before. My virtual office is a safe space for people of any race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, and background, and I'm here to help without judgment.
My Background and Approach
As a licensed clinical social worker, I am certified to assess, diagnosis, and treat mental health conditions. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness based therapies, and I use these approaches to help treat anxiety and depression. I do believe that integrating different theories, skills, and perspectives provides the most benefit, however. I also have training in psychosomatic approaches, family systems theory, and solution focused therapy, and I use strategies during treatment. The truth is: different people need different things. My job is to listen to you, ask questions, and collaborate with you to find a set of ideas and a plan that will decrease problematic symptoms and improve your quality of life. What helps one person may not work as well for someone else. I am here to be your co-pilot as we drive down the highway, providing travel information, directions, and maintenance support.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I will first note that my ethical training and professionalism prohibits me from pushing my beliefs onto a client. I would never want to - different people have different experiences and values, and what's right for me isn't right for everyone. That being said, I would answer you honestly if you asked me about my personal beliefs in a session. I am non-religious, a vegan of 10 years, an advocate of environmental justice, a feminist, anti-racist, and an ally to the LGBTQ+ community. I do not have any children but may one day. I know that community is key to well-being and that building a strong community is one of the key tasks of adulthood. I have a cat named Luna!
