About My Clients
I see therapy as a partnership between myself and the client. Although I have a skillset I have been trained to use the client is the expert when it comes to their lived experiences, their feelings, their pain. In my practice I strive to create a safe space for all people to share and process their pain.
My Background and Approach
Connection is vital to our mental health. I feel it is important that people feel valued and welcome as they are - with pain, the trauma, the anxiety. I want people to know that they don't have to hide the hard things in order to be valued and welcomed in our practice together.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that every human being is valuable and deserves respect. As a white woman I acknowledge that my race has allowed me privileges not available to many other groups of people. Therefore, I believe this privilege should be used to advocate for those individuals and groups who have been marginalized, oppressed, and victimized because of their race, gender, religious beliefs, sexual orientation. I am an LGBTQ+ Affirming therapist. I support the Black Lives Matter movement. I acknowledge that my practice located in Indiana, is on the unceded land of the Potowatami, Miami, Shawnee, Delaware, and Piankashaw. I understand that the oppression of these groups of people leads to increased challenges in receiving mental health services. I am continuously working to understand how oppression impacts mental health, identifying my privilege and use this to shift power to marginalized groups.
