My Background and Approach
I earned my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through the University of Southern Maine, where I specialized in treating co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. The first several years of my career were spent in community mental health settings, working directly with the substance using population using harm reduction models. Providing accessible, low-barrier care for all was an important principle that lead my work. In 2021 I launched my private practice. While I continue to provide accessible care to all, I have expanded my specialty into a somatic focus. As Prentis Hemphill so wisely says, "When we rely so heavily on our thinking as the sole basis for healing, we miss the resource, the wisdom and the reality of our bodies." I have advanced training in IFS, Polyvagal theory, and generative somatics.
