About My Clients

My clients are often between 15-24 years old from all different backgrounds and experiences. They may or may not know what they would like to work on or change, yet they feel that things can be going better in some way. They are willing to learn how to accept things about themselves, try new things, and show courage through their vulnerabilities. They may have had difficult or traumatic experiences in the past or present, and now feel that this is time to work on their own healing and discovery.

My Background and Approach

In my years of practice I have worked across a variety of settings, including adolescent inpatient facilities, community-based outpatient clinics, and public high schools as a Licensed Clinician and Mental Health Specialist. I have served thousands of teens, young adults, and their parents through direct treatment, coordination of services, advocacy, and conducting professional development training across the country. I am aso a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), a rostered Advanced SPARCS Clinician, and certified as a Triple P Level 3 Teen program provider. My passion is helping teens and young adults find safer ways to heal from chronic stress and/or trauma by learning and practicing key skills in Mindfulness, Emotional Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. Clients increase their ability to determine when and how to use coping strategies, understanding the brain/body connection, and practice self-advocacy and communication skills.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in seeing the entire person not just what is wrong or not going well. I value having the courage it takes to be vulnerable and really connecting with clients by providing a safe, trusting, and healing space. I constantly work on myself to be aware of my own personal judgments and how this impacts how I see and experience the world, and encourage this in my clients. I believe in personal accountability and have high expectations, yet also recognize that this may take coaching, practice, and learning new skills. I believe that people can and do change, and that comes from their practice of having hope and developing insight. Because I believe in the dignity of every person I do not believe in not allowing them to fail or make mistakes; this is part of the process and human experience. I am interested in how clients define their own goals and progress, and how I can help them on that journey.
