About My Clients
My clients are seeking help processing trauma, building better communication skills, and exploring their sense of self. Art therapy is a useful tool to help express emotions, because it uses nonverbal communication. Oftentimes, we remember the experience in our bodies and feelings, but not so much in words. For this reason, art therapy is extremely effective in dealing with trauma-related issues.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed and board certified art therapist. I have experience using CBT, TF-CBT, and existential based therapy. My approach is person centered and I believe that when you are living your true self and are aware of your emotional needs, you are your healthiest self. I have gained extensive experience working with children, teens and adults while working in various settings such as, residential treatment facilities and schools. Most recently my work within the women’s shelter system has been focused on creating safety and autonomy through art making. Through my work, I have come to understand trauma and its relation to the body and mind—as well as our capacity to change maladaptive behaviors and habits. My approach is intuitive and dedicated to creating resilience, strength and self-expression through the creative act. I believe in providing a safe place to help find your voice, share your experience and heal.
