About My Clients
I work with adolescents and adults on a multitude of issues and symptoms related to depression, anxiety, trauma (racial, intergenerational, religious, relationship, etc.), and identity. My clients are often a part of marginalized communities and many have identities that intersect. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and a fellow POC, I work with my clients to explore the intersectionality in their life and the stress and trauma that they often deal with.
My Background and Approach
In my work, I use Narrative and CBT to link your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors together in order to break down negative messages about yourself and reframe them in a positive and empowering way. I view these messages in a systemic manner, either personal or societal, because we are impacted by the world and people around us. I acknowledge how context shapes how you understand yourself and I will help you to heal you inner world so that you are experiencing the outside world in a genuine way.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Therapy can be hard. However, all it takes is one person validating your humanity for change to occur. I believe it is important to name the parts of your identity that haven't been heard and acknowledge their need to be understood and healed. With a new perspective of self, we can attack those daily problems and resolve them in ways that feel true to who you are as a person. When we reshape how we safely show up in world, we can heal and reveal our full authentic selves. Nina Simone once said, “To be free means no fear”. We will affirm your internal strength so that you can live your life free of the restrictions created by fear.
