About My Clients
I work with queer and trans adults who feel "stuck" in relationships. I cultivate curiosity; what unmet needs from childhood shape how you relate to your partner(s)? How do larger cultural systems affect you sense of belonging in community? What deeper emotional realities drive your reactions to others? You come to therapy because you have questions and desire change. Oftentimes, it is our relational needs that contribute to how we experience anxiety, depression, stress, and/or loss.
My Background and Approach
I came to this work because of my desire to truly hold space for another person's story. Before pursuing my graduate education, I worked in LGBTQ healthcare and hold a special appreciation for the effects of chronic and/or stigmatized health conditions on marginalized people. I bring my knowledge of HIV/AIDS, sexual health, kink, sex work, and non-monogamy to support clients navigating relationships within themselves and with others. I have a master's degree in counseling and pursued advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, an evidence-based approach to providing couples therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm a therapist who shows up as myself; I interact, challenge, and empathize, but also talk with my hands, wear lots of colors, and have a loud laugh. I aim to create a space where all of you can be welcomed. I love working with the weirdos, creatives, punks, or anyone that has felt "othered" by the way they exist in the world. Much of my approach to therapy I borrow from the harm reduction movement; honoring autonomy, providing non-judgement, and giving people self-determination to know what change is possible for themselves.
