You may be navigating identity issues, feeling stuck in one or more areas of your life, or simply wanting a time and space that is totally separate from the other parts of your life - - where you can pause, think, and feel in the privacy of a therapy relationship. You may be seeking a collaborative relationship through which you can safely explore your authentic experiences navigating the demands of a neurotypically-oriented world.
My Background and Approach
I approach psychotherapy collaboratively, meaning we will do this together. Forming collaborative therapeutic relationships that potentiate self-discovery and meaningful change is an endeavor that requires me to bring undivided attention and respect for you and the effort it takes to approach the psychotherapy process. I come to this work with curiosity, awe, and warmth.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am interested the ways in which structural oppression (e.g., patriarchy, sexism, transphobia, xenophobia, ableism, ageism, colonialism, classism etc.) intersect with the complexity of one's identity, which may include privileged and marginalized group status(es) (e.g., sexual orientation, gender identity, neurotype, nationality/ immigration status/ acculturative stress, age, SES, etc). Each time I meet someone, I see it as an opportunity to listen, notice, and bear witness to the patterns and inflection points that gave rise to the emerging desire for therapeutic change. I would be happy to connect with you over the phone, for 15 minutes, to hear what you are looking for, to see if I can help, and to talk about possible next steps.
