About My Clients
Currently, I am interested in serving individuals who have a variety of personal struggles, whether it be challenges with relationships, friendships, work, school, or identity issues. The clients whom I feel I would best serve are individuals who are from marginalized communities, as well as those who are young adults. I encourage anyone who is interested in my counseling style to reach out and schedule an appointment so we can begin working toward your mental health goals!
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Illinois. My undergraduate study was in Sociology. This gives me a well-rounded understanding of the human experience, as it pertains to social issues. Regarding my counseling approach, I utilize a strengths based approach, meaning that rather than simply focusing on the issues that are negative, I will help draw out much of the strengths that you have as an individual and work toward empowering you, the client. Furthermore, I treat much of my work as collaborative in nature. This means that we will be working toward goals that you set. My aim is to treat you as an equal in the space rather than someone who has all of the answers.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in social justice for all individuals, no matter how they identify. Furthermore, I believe that much of the issues that individuals face on a daily basis are the result of systemic oppression, rather than any individual's personal actions. My goal as a therapist is to empower any person who I interact with to recognize how outside forces may have caused their situation to occur and to help them find meaning in whatever situation they find themselves in.
