About My Clients
I work primarily with individuals who are LGBTQ+, those processing and managing a cancer diagnosis, and individuals with chronic illnesses. I also work with children, teens, and families. I approach all of my counseling through an affirmative approach that creates a sense of safety and security that allows you to feel seen and heard in your unique story.
My Background and Approach
Feeling seen and understood, especially during moments of hardship, can provide a sense of stability and support. My therapeutic approach emphasizes the importance of meeting a person where they are at and building a connection through trust and understanding. I strive to create an environment of trust and safety with each of my clients and value the healing that can take place when individuals feel heard without judgment, seen for all of who they are, and deeply understood.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am very passionate about my work within the LGBTQ+ community. Over the years, I've worked with many organizations, including conducting trainings with the LGBTQ+ Center and running booths at pride events promoting free LGBTQ youth therapy services. As a queer woman myself, it is important to me to do my part in building competency in queer issues, increasing public understanding, and helping individuals find services they need. In addition, the chronic illness community is very important to me. As I teen, I struggled with chronic pain and was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. As a result, this lead me to pursue a career supporting kids, teens, ang young adults through chronic illness/cancer diagnosis, knowing first hand how difficult it is. The unique experience of dealing with health issues at a young age can be traumatic and isolating and I strive to lessen this through a warm and validating lens.
