About My Clients
I have had the privilege to work with adults 21 and older who have presented with anxiety, depression, trauma (childhood, adult). Additionally, my drug and alcohol clients have all presented with a range of symptomatological issues which have contributed to their DUI arrests. As their level two DUI education facilitator, my guidance has helped them to identify those underlying symptoms and to address them in conjunction with their edification on the DUI laws and penalties.
My Background and Approach
As a master-level mental health clinician, it is my experience that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is quite beneficial in examining patients' errors in thinking and challenging those errors to affect change. CBT is also useful in drug and alcohol treatment. Reality (choice theory) therapy, Trauma therapy, solution-focused, existentialism, psychodynamic tools, Gestalt, experiential tools have all been extremely useful in my approach to treating patients. Over the past six years starting as an addictions group counselor, I have gained great insight into how to connect with my patients and subsequently treat them effectively. I will use these and other techniques as well as psychoeducation to help you gain the knowledge and change which you seek. Most importantly, I will be there, in the moment, with you as we take this collaborative journey together.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My fundamental value is to treat ALL people with unconditional positive regard regardless of race, creed, culture, etc. I believe that with work, one can bring about whatever changes s/he desires. Once you are able to move past your comfort zone and into the improved healthier frame of existence, you are better for it. Effective communication is key between patient and therapist.
