My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in the state of North Carolina who specializes in identity exploration and culturally competent care. My counseling includes, but is not limited to supporting the BIPOC population and LGBTQIA+ population, struggling families, and dual diagnosis clients. My skills include providing trauma informed counseling sessions for couples, families, and individuals as well as working towards a variety of goals, tailored to each clients needs. I utilize Narrative Therapy techniques and Person-Centered Therapy approaches that encourage intentional reflection and empower clients to make their own internal narrative. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques that focus on lessening maladaptive behaviors and developing health coping skills.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The way I show up in the counseling space is 100% real to who I am. I am a Black woman first and foremost and that informs the way I move through the world. I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and proudly advocate for my community whenever possible. I am sex positive, kink positive, and sex worker positive, and polyamorous affirming. No one should ever feel lesser based on the work they do or the way they choose to connect with others. Everyone's differences are what make the world an exciting and amazing place to be.
