My Background and Approach
As a therapist, I blend motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to foster self-motivation and help you reframe unhelpful thought patterns. My experience in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for individuals with serious mental illness has deepened my understanding of the complexities of mental health. There, I facilitated daily group therapy and individual counseling, focusing on nature-based recovery methods, trauma healing, and psychoeducation to empower clients with knowledge and skills. Additionally, I incorporate mindfulness activities to promote grounding and resilience. My approach is collaborative, ensuring that you feel supported and equipped to make meaningful changes in your life. Together, we will work toward your goals in a safe, affirming environment.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a social worker, I view my role as a vital political advocate for mental health recovery. I believe that effective mental health support must address systemic issues and empower marginalized communities, particularly in advocating for transgender rights. It’s essential to create safe and affirming spaces where all individuals can thrive. I also stand firmly against police involvement in mental health crises, as I believe that this can often exacerbate situations and lead to further trauma. Instead, I support approaches that prioritize compassionate care and community-based solutions. My commitment is to challenge injustices, promote inclusivity, and ensure that everyone receives the support they need without fear or stigma. Through advocacy and education, I strive to contribute to a more equitable mental health landscape for all.
