About My Clients
Much of my work has focused on children and the people who care for them in various contexts, as well as hurt caused by religious background. I use cognitive behavioral, strengths-based, attachment-informed, and mindfulness approaches, and can incorporate religion and/or spirituality into treatment if it is desired.
My Background and Approach
I create a warm, compassionate, collaborative space for us to do this work together, understanding that you know more about yourself than I do, but I can help you look at your life, its gifts and challenges, with fresh eyes. I have twenty years of experience working with people of all ages in social work and in ministry, and walking alongside you as you share and explore your story is an honor and a privilege. I believe you have what you need to flourish, and I want to help you discover it.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
“It is strange to be here.” Thus begins Irish poet John O’Donohue as he writes about the odd experience of being a person in a relationship with oneself and others. Being human can be a lonely and difficult, wondrous and beautiful experience. To discover who you really are, to explore your story, and to come to know yourself in the world more fully, is a unique privilege, and makes the human experience richer and deeper. I love working with people of all ages around meaning-making, finding one's true self in the mess of all that life has to offer with its gifts and challenges. I meet people where they are and delight in the diverse ways we all show up in the world. I have engaged in education and organizational policy work around making religious spaces more safe and affirming for LGBTQ+ youth and young adults.
