About My Clients
My clients tend to fall into a few niches: Clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, pandemic issues, and relationship issues. Clients who work in and around the music/entertainment industry who are coping with specific stressors in those industries (many of which have been intensified during the pandemic). Clients who have substance use issues on top of their mental health issues who want to work on harm reduction or who may want to experiment with abstinence.
My Background and Approach
Given that I am both a licensed clinical social worker and a licensed advanced alcohol and drug counselor, I have worked in settings with children and families, in a psychiatric hospital, in a school, and in private practice, I have a wide range of experience professionally. I bring that experience to bear to assist you with whatever problem you’re experiencing so that you can experience more joy in your life. I have been trained in several evidence-based therapies and will work with you so you can develop better coping skills and get more out of your life, decrease your level of stress, get a better handle on any mental health symptoms you may be experiencing, and feel better about yourself. Every person I see is different and so the most important thing I do is listen to you and hear things from your perspective. Only if I do that well can I do my job correctly. From there we can figure out what the most important things are to prioritize in our work together. This is your therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that just because you grew up one way doesn’t mean you need to stay that way. And I believe it because I’ve seen it over and over again. I’ve seen people overcoming trauma and alcoholism and anger management issues and all kinds of things so while I’m not going to sit here and tell you it’s easy to do I am going to tell you I believe it’s possible because I’ve seen it. I strongly believe that all people (not just all men as it states in our constitution) are created equally and deserve equity and just treatment in our society. So what does that mean? That means I’ve done a lot of advocacy and protesting in my life and I’m probably going to do a lot more. That means I’ve donated a lot of money in my life and I’m probably going to donate a lot more. I’m very politically active. I decided pretty early in my life that I didn’t like seeing people treated poorly and I was going to do what I could do to stop that and call it out when I saw it and I’ve been doing that ever since.
