About My Clients
I focus primarily on helping individuals overcome trauma and build a sense of empowerment. I am passionate about helping clients suffering from anxiety, self-esteem difficulties, sexual trauma and intimate relationship challenges. I provide a safe space for LGBTQ+ individuals and utilize a sex positive lens. I strive to provide a warm, non-judgmental presence with the curiosity and tools to help you free yourself of what you think you "should" be and accept and love who you are.
My Background and Approach
One of my favorite quotes about therapy reads, "The true counselor seeks to understand people from the standpoint of appreciation...it is like inviting the traveler in from a snowy and chilly journey to sit for an hour before the fire." This is my approach. I will support you in learning to cultivate deep and meaningful relationships and find safety in vulnerability and connection. I provide tools to aid you in healing from unhealthy relationships to learn to build new, interdependent and fulfilling connections, practice challenging that "inner critic" and cultivate a loving, compassionate inner voice, develop boundaries to protect yourself, to take new and beneficial risks in your life, to let go of the judgement and shame you have built over the years and most importantly, to learn the daily practice of loving yourself.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a social worker with a passion for social and racial justice, and spend my full time position working with individuals institutionalized and suffering with severe mental illness to provide them the support and tools to live a safe, integrated life in the community. I advocate for the trans and LGBTQ+ population within the institutionalized mental health population and use my time outside my full time position to aid adults in the community suffering from trauma symptoms.
