About My Clients
I support individual clients with concerns such as depression, anxiety, stress, family and peer relationships, queer identity, neurodiversity, and trauma/CPTSD. If you have ever felt "othered" or out of place, I would love to provide a supportive, non-judgemental space for you. I am passionate about working with individuals open to self-reflection, curiosity and creativity, and genuine connection. However, I am not the right fit for those expecting highly structured therapy or a "quick fix."
My Background and Approach
My approach to therapy is humanistic and holistic, and centers on building a strong relationship with my clients. Cultivating an authentic, caring relationship is at the core of my work. At the same time, I will challenge you when needed. I consider you to be the expert on your life and your lived experiences, so therapy with me means a collaborative approach to your goals. I use a person-centered and trauma-informed approach, drawing on DBT, IFS, ACT, and polyvagal techniques, and grounded in anti-racist, feminist, and HAES lenses. I understand that our environments impact our mental health. We may consider how family, education/work, gender roles, political systems, or cultural values have influenced you. Finally, I am committed to working with broader support networks where it may be helpful. I am happy to provide additional resources or to refer you to a psychiatrist, nutritionist, or other professionals for adjunct treatment. I am currently accepting LGPCs for supervision in MD.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a real person in and out of the therapy office. I use humor and bring in cultural references to my sessions, and you will likely see my pets at some point over telehealth. In showing up as my true self, I invite you to do the same. I am a White, queer, highly empathetic, cisgender woman with ADHD and chronic illness. I acknowledge the impact of my intersecting identities, and I practice cultural humility with my clients. Some ways that I engage in self-care include mindfulness, deep relationships, and appreciating nature. I also enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, and dabbling in creative hobbies, from embroidery and puzzles to videogames and Dungeons and Dragons. If I were a kind of ice cream, I would be raspberry with dark chocolate chunks.
