About My Clients

When life is not as kind to us as we had hoped we often need a safe space to be able to explore these difficulties and become a person who feels more validated and affirmed. Sometimes relationships can be tough as well and you need a third party to help you hash out the misunderstandings and miscommunications. You just need someone to hear you and validate you. I work to provide a safe space to express yourself and learn new ways of being to transform your life experience for the best.

My Background and Approach

I have been practicing now for approximately three years post grad in community mental health. I have worked with individuals, and couples. I work with individuals with substance use disorders, individuals struggling with anxiety and depression, members of the LGBTQ+ population on self exploration as well as general life stressors. My approach is affirming of all sexualities and gender identities, as well as other marginalized populations. My therapy style is first focused on being non-judgmental and accepting as well as warm, inviting, and welcoming. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach often centers around the language used to talk to ourselves and others and being able to frame that language to better fit with our values and goals in life. My approach combines cognitive behavioral, dialectic behavioral, narrative therapy, experiential techniques, and mindfulness approaches.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe Oppression and systemic racism exists in most all aspects of society. I acknowledge privileges that I carry and use that as a continued discussion in therapy to maintain safety and effectiveness. Systemic issues and feminist theories influence a lot of the therapy I do. I also am a sex positive therapist and believe sex work is work. One of the main approaches in therapy that I think is important is reducing stigma in many areas and changing the way we talk about substance use, and mental illness. I view addiction as a disease. I believe that it is important to acknowledge and change the language that we use that is harmful to ourselves and others and challenge stereotypes and stigmas.
