About My Clients
I work with teens and adults on a variety of issues related to childhood trauma (neglect, emotional/physical/sexual abuse), identity formulation, anxiety, depression, career related-stress or dissatisfaction, domestic violence, and relationship challenges. I also provide relationship therapy which includes the spectrum of relationships we experience including intimate (monogamous and non-monogamous), family, and even friendships. Yes, even those because friends can often be our chosen family.
My Background and Approach
I am a gay/queer therapist who has been on a deeply moving journey to change my career. Our life experiences can sometimes shape internal narratives that can make us feel stuck, and isolated, or create challenges in our relationships. Therapy has been instrumental in shifting some of my limiting beliefs by creating a space of healing which is why I followed this calling to switch my career. I believe in cultivating a space for people to be seen and heard while facilitating change through compassion and culturally affirming care. I approach clients with the understanding we all embody multiple identities and experiences that shape us into who we are and present challenges that can affect our mental health, especially when we are "othered". As a collaborator, clients can explore their inner strengths and resources and work through the change they want to see. I am also basic-trained in EMDR to work with clients addressing trauma in their lives.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I consider myself a lifelong volunteer who has worked with many organizations within the LGBTQ+ community. Whether it's working on a suicide prevention line, helping youth with resume building, or working with immigrant populations, I find joy in giving back to the community. I consider myself a social justice-oriented therapist and seek to advocate for marginalized communities and clients alike. I have been fortunate enough to work with people across a spectrum of identities and will continue with intention.
