About My Clients
Many individuals on my caseload identify as queer trans people of color, 2nd generation individuals navigating conflicting cultural values. I enjoy working with individuals with intersecting identities especially around gender, culture, and sexuality and the conflicting expectations attached to the identities. I hope to provide a safe, supportive space to process shame, guilt and generational trauma. I also work with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, burnout and more.
My Background and Approach
I work from a Narrative and Feminist orientation using CBT interventions. My Narrative orientation means I believe everyone is writing a story, but sometimes it doesn't feel like you are holding the pen. I would like to create a safe space for us to explore your story and help you gain the confidence to edit or change the parts you see fit, by setting specific goals. I hope to offer a myriad of tools and/or different perspectives to help guide you as you try to take back your story. Based on one of the tenants of the Feminist theoretical orientation, I strive for a therapeutic relationship that is as equal as possible and provide a safe space for explorations and wonderings. Imagine me as Google Maps suggesting a route that you have to power to accept or change as you are on your journey, but the destination is set by you. I might recommend homework in the form of specific tasks for you to practice that will enhance and supplement the work we do in therapy.
