About My Clients
Dealing with life changes, discovering who you are, and maintaining relationships are difficult no matter what, but they become even more difficult if you don't follow the "traditional" path. Being queer myself, I am aware of the challenge. I work with my clients through exploring gender and sexuality, adjusting to a significant life shift, relationship issues, recovering from systemic and personal trauma, and building self-love.
My Background and Approach
I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a powerful tool for change, and I place a high priority on developing secure and safe connections with each of my clients. I want my clients to feel accepted just as they are when they come to therapy and as we work through various topics and changes. I enjoy bringing my own personality and humor into the therapy room to create a casual and personable feel to my work. I approach my work with a social justice, feminist, anti-heterosexism, and anti-racist perspective that embraces individuals from various walks of life, identities, and cultures, as well as the experiences that accompanies those experiences. I pull from various models of therapy - including Emotionally-Focused, Narrative, and Existential therapies.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My experience of growing up queer in the South shaped much of my worldview, and I value how each individual's social location impacts how we show up in our lives and relationships. I sincerely respect your distinct viewpoint and your distinct life experiences, and I want to understand you thoroughly. I think that having deep conversations about your experiences and developing what they mean to you aids you in connecting with yourself and your loved ones. When I am not in session, I enjoy crocheting, collecting records, attending local LGBTQIA+ events, and hanging out with my fluffy orange cat.
