About My Clients
I work with individuals, couples and families aged 12+. I enjoy supporting adolescents through difficult years of identity development, establishing coping skills to manage difficult and sometimes unfamiliar emotions. I also enjoy working with adults and couples, helping you to uncover your underlying wants and needs in order to enhance communication, connection and intimacy. I help my clients get their needs met in healthy ways by offering concrete strategies.
My Background and Approach
I've been a therapist for over 10 years working with individuals, couples and families presenting with a variety of concerns. I view my role in therapy as creating a safe space for you to explore your concerns and supporting you in coming up with concrete solutions. I do this by working from a nonjudgmental stance, and pulling from all my tools/training. I have been trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities, and I will adapt to what you need (your voice and feedback is an important part of this process). I work with you as a team- offering you transparency, feedback and concrete tools. I am originally from Canada, where I am licensed as a Registered Psychotherapist. I immigrated to California and am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. In my sessions, you will notice I utilize Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that the "right time" for therapy is now. You enter my sessions as you are, in the here and now. You have strengths that we will pull from, and challenges that we will look to adapt new strategies to manage. Despite how difficult it may feel, I believe that change is inevitable. We can learn from the past, and we can work towards a brighter future. I am here to support you through the journey of making effective changes.
