About My Clients
I work with anxious, deeply feeling, high-achieving people-pleasers who come to me feeling overwhelmed, on edge, perpetually drained and often confused about why they feel this way. Many of my clients were raised in families that seemed normal and functional from the outside but may not have been able to provide the emotional support, safety and connection my clients needed. Many of my clients are Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) and this is a population I love working with.
My Background and Approach
My practice is based on the EMDR framework. EMDR is known as an excellent trauma therapy but is also incredibly effective for addressing anxiety, people-pleasing tendencies, low self-esteem, and other places humans can find themselves stuck. My primary focus is on helping my clients understand themselves and move toward a more aligned, authentic way of moving through the world. None of us gets through being a human unscathed; the ways our brains try to make sense of the world, our relationships, and our place in it sometimes leave us feeling disconnected and uncertain of how to find ourselves again. All of this is treatable. I tend to do longer-term, depth oriented work with my clients. While I have extensive training in alternate theories and modalities, my focus is always on creating a safe and secure relationship with my clients from which we can do deep, healing work.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we are all wired for healing; nobody is permanently damaged or broken. I engage in constant learning and training to deepen my expertise and skill set, but ultimately believe it is the therapeutic relationship that provides the foundation for healing and desired change; all that other stuff is just to make sure I have the tools and framework available for when we need them. Values-wise, I am an enthusiastic and unwavering LGBTQ+ ally and believe strongly in reproductive healthcare access and choice. I'm in the weeds parenting two young children, I grow way too many flowers every summer and play ice hockey as often as I can. I love this work and this journey.
