Clinical Social Worker in Kansa City, MO

About My Clients

I am a licensed specialist clinical social worker (LSCSW) & somatic experiencing practitioner (SEP) who works alongside humans ages 13+ to heal from symptoms of complex trauma, like depression, anxiety, panic, overwhelm & feeling disconnected or lost. I am fortunate to work primarily with organizers & healers, immigrant communities, queer & CNM/polyam communities, survivors of complex and developmental trauma.

My Background and Approach

When I first sought out counseling, I hoped therapy would help me fix what was wrong with me. Through my healing journey and professional training I found a more effective starting place. No one needs fixing; we need healing and the tools it takes to begin. Every therapy modality I use involves learning how to slow down and get curious about our whole selves - both mind and body. When we begin to approach life with curiosity and compassion, we can build trust and compassion in ourselves, others, and the world around us. You deserve to feel safe and go slow as you reconnect with you whole self and your world. I'll be there to meet you where you are.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am from Kansas City, the juncture of the Missouri & Kansas rivers & land of the Osage, Delaware, Kaw, Wyandot, Missouria, Kansa, & Shawnee people. However, I first began my social work career in immigrant & refugee services as a case manager & shelter operations coordinator in Austin, TX. I also supervised teen volunteers in small communities throughout Costa Rica & The Dominican Republic. I moved back to KC in 2012 & continued working with refugees & ESOL students before pursuing my MSW. During graduate school at KU, I worked as a bilingual therapist with adults & kids specializing in trauma, immigration & sexual assault. I am passionate about doing my part to promote my community’s wellbeing & equity. Currently, I volunteer with Sunrise Movement KC & Advocates for Immigrant Rights & Reconciliation. In my free time, I love being outside and in my garden, dancing, singing karaoke (mostly in my living room), reading books, eating snacks & chilling with family & chosen family.
