About My Clients

I assess how motivated clients are for treatment for a better understanding of the individual, their needs and goals, and their eagerness to do "the work." Clients that I work with are generally committed. They are openminded, willing, honest, introspective, and determined. These characteristics start to show up, become stronger each week, as the client begins to trust me, and themselves, with their healing journey. Each client is unique and every journey is different. They set the pace always.

My Background and Approach

I work hard to make my clients feel comfortable in therapeutic spaces. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I understand the feelings that may come with trying to own and share your identity. I have also experienced the difficulties of chronic illness/chronic pain over a 10+ year period; therefore, have an understanding of medical procedures and terminology, while also understanding the delicate relationship between mind and body. I believe that the healing journey of each client is unique and, so too, is the plan for treatment. I consider myself a lifelong learner, I ask clients to teach me about themselves, their symptoms, and their experiences; knowing clients will always set the tone and pace of their treatment. I will never take for granted the opportunity to be a part of someone’s life journey. I am trained in Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychoanalytic/Psychodynamic Therapy, Trauma Response, and more. I use what is necessary to help the client.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I was once a queer young adult who felt stuck, scared, and hopeless. I did not have the skills to cope or the words to describe the emotional turmoil. When I started to believe in myself and my identity, I vowed to be a resource to others in similar situations. I wholeheartedly believe that my speciality is shared lived experience and true empathy. Ultimately, I, as a therapist, business owner, social worker, and empathetic human operating in a hurting and broken world, promise to approach any and all situations with kindness, curiosity, and open-mindedness. My ethical compass' true north is my profession's Code of Ethics. This guideline for practice is made up of six (6) specific core values that will inform the delivery of care and treatment for every client I see and work with: service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence.
