About My Clients
I mostly work with the LGBTQ+ community and provide gender minority and sexual minority affirming care for trans and/or intersex folx. Many of my clients have experienced shame from religious trauma, LGBTQ+ minority stress, and/or generational trauma. Clients who I see are 21 years of age and older. My clients recognize that therapy is collaborative and are motivated to make changes outside of therapy sessions in order to see the results that they are hoping for.
My Background and Approach
I practice from a liberation-oriented approach and tailor my treatment approaches to meet my clients' unique needs. I utilize techniques from narrative, Socratic, Gestalt, cognitive imagery, rational emotive, mentalization, and transpersonal therapeutic methods.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I practice in accordance to the National Association of Social Workers' (NASW) Code of Ethics. I seek to live my life and practice in a way which follows the NASW's ethics of social justice, integrity, competency, service of others, valuing the importance of relationships with others, and seeing the dignity and worth in others. My social justice work primarily focuses on advocating for human equality of LGBTQ+ and intersex folx. Through this social justice advocacy, I make calls to actions for institutions, including religious institutions, to stop the perpetuation their harms of LGBTQ+ and intersex folx and make amends for their contributions to LGBTQ+ and intersex oppression.
