About My Clients
I'm a doctoral student therapist who is passionate about working with the LGBTQ+ community and providing a safe and affirming space to navigate gender and sexuality-related concerns. I also work with adults and college students to provide support for anxiety, depression, trauma, body image, and coping with stress and life transitions. I am sex-positive and enjoy working with polyamorous/ethically non-monogamous and kink communities.
My Background and Approach
I’m a doctoral student therapist under supervision by a licensed psychologist. I aim to approach therapy through an anti-oppressive and intersectional lens. I value collaboration, goal-setting, and client feedback to make sure you're getting what you need from therapy. I might ask if you're looking for a solution-oriented approach to a concern or if it would be more helpful to delve deeper into the roots and meaning (or both!). I will always give you an opportunity to set the agenda/topic(s) for our time together, and if you're unsure of where to start I'm happy to help brainstorm. I also focus on spotlighting your unique strengths and interests to help you implement positive changes. I use methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and person-centered therapy. I don't believe there is a one-size-fits-all approach and I tailor my actions to cater to your personal needs and growth.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that people make the most progress when they feel accepted, validated, and supported by both themselves and their environment. I also believe it is essential to feel as comfortable as possible with your therapist in order to provide a solid foundation for sharing and growth. I'm a big fan of swearing in session and deconstructing restrictive stereotypes of therapy. I often use humor when appropriate to strengthen our connection and I love referencing relevant memes and integrating other forms of media you like such as music, movies, or art. Besides being a therapist, I'm also a researcher, student, rescue dog mom, musician, gamer, insect taxidermist, antique collector, lover of goth and spooky things, and general creative spirit. If you think I might be a good fit, please don't hesitate to reach out. I can't wait to hear from you!
