About My Clients
My clients are introspective, creative, funny and sensitive. Even in their grief, when it feels like there's no top or bottom. When they find me they are usually really tired from so much time spent doing everything they can think of to avoid the pain of loss, change, trauma, anxiety and fear in their lives. They feel ready to face the hard stuff, but they also need some support on this journey. I am so honored and humbled to do this work with them.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Certified Grief Educator. I have experience facilitating support groups for suicide loss survivors as well as loved ones of sexual abuse survivors. I have also facilitated support groups for caregivers of loved ones with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia for the Alzheimer's Association in Colorado. I believe in a collaborative approach to therapy in which clients and therapists make decisions about treatment together. Existentialist therapy and Mindfulness Practices are two clinical approaches I often draw from in grief work with clients: bridging the mind and body in practical ways clients can learn and use on their own.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm an ally of those in the LGBTQIA+ community and have experience working with clients across the gender and sexual identity spectrum. I bring cultural humility to my work and strive to create a safe space for all clients. I believe in De-Colonizing therapy and to that end, the importance of consistently exploring my own biases. I believe that aside from our personal grief and losses, we are also in the midst of cultural grief, including post-pandemic grief, grief around mass shootings, natural disaster/climate grief and for many of us, grief around the loss of hard won legal rights and protections.
