About My Clients
Clients most often come to therapy with me to address complexity in relationships with others; to have a safe space to explore identity; coping with intense or overwhelming feelings; healing after abuse; and grief/loss. I also find that neurodivergent (i.e. Autistic and ADHD) people and I connect very well. I consider myself a jack-of-many-trades, so I'm open to discussing whether I'd be the right fit for anything you may bring.
My Background and Approach
My approaches to therapy draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS); Gestalt Therapy theory; EMDR, Relational-Cultural Therapy, Intersectional Feminism, harm reduction, and somatic interventions. I see healing and change as not just individual but community and relational processes. My orientation to approaching suffering, healing, and change is not rooted in a model of pathology. The body's response to suffering or surviving traumatic environments can take many different forms and even "harmful" thoughts, feelings, or behaviors have come to serve a purpose. With support, we can intuitively move towards growth, wholeness, and connection. I also support neurodivergent people with finding balance between honoring their needs and meeting obligations. The lens/experiences I bring into our space, and the lens/experiences you bring, as well as our environment, shapes our work together. I am committed to attending to how different systems we are part of affect you, me, and our work.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I bring a strong anti-oppressive, queer, and trauma-informed lens to our work. It is my intent to create a non-pathologizing and affirming therapy space, especially for those who experience marginalization and inequity in their lives and experiences. I am an affirming (and experienced) provider for those who practice polyamory or kink, people with ADHD, autistic people, people who have been diagnosed with "personality disorders" or identify with specific diagnoses or features; sex workers, and people who use drugs. Also, I am happy to discuss COVID related concerns and discuss and negotiate safety practices with you. Here are some things I love: being in nature, Star Trek, board games, making art, making bad puns, gardening, swimming, mutual aid and organizing for justice, drinking coffee, stickers, the Shehechianu, the Phillies and the Eagles, wearing hoodies, and petting cats.
