About My Clients
Do you feel like sometimes talk therapy doesn't quite do it for you? Do you feel most connected and whole when you're creating? Are you navigating challenging life events like fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, parenthood, particularly as a queer/trans person? Do you think you may be autistic/adhder? Are you looking to process your fundamentalist or evangelical upbringing or explore your mental health through songwriting? Music therapy may be a good fit for you to explore your authentic self.
My Background and Approach
Let's connect in the music and explore your life journey through your relationship to music-making, listening, or discussing. Look for ways to build resiliency and resources within and beyond yourself that go deeper than words. My approach to therapy is a collaborative, creative, community and resource-oriented; integrating narrative, cultural, and feminist practices. I believe in the dance of being completely whole while moving towards wholeness. This dance is rooted in play, in creating space, and in embracing the process. I believe in the power of storytelling and shared narratives as a catalyst for connection, healing, and groundedness and I believe music is a powerful means of storytelling. I believe in the duet of examining power, and in personally cultivating resilience practices while collaborating in community to challenge the systems in power.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that community coming together for collective good and wholeness will heal us forward in this white supremacist patriarchy colonizer world. While many people, organizations, politics, and therapy approaches favor tackling issues individually, I believe that approaching things from a systems perspective - how something is connected to a bigger systemic issue, brings about growth, healing, and wholeness. We can't tackle antiblackness without tackling anti-transness without examining class without examining patriarchy and so on.... these are all connected. Anxiety is connected to needing to be seen and known and so on. I am firmly pro- queer and trans and I am active in the LGBTQIA+ community. I believe Black Lives Matter and that we need to listen to Indigenous voices. Disability justice is everybody justice. I am an avid bird-lover and believe birds tells us what we need to know about climate crisis. Birding is both hobby and self-care and community and activism for me.
