About My Clients
I have experience working with individual adults and teens, as well as couples. My background is in supporting people who have experienced domestic violence and sexual assault, including childhood sexual abuse. I can also provide support for those experiencing grief and loss, navigating relationship issues and life transitions, including becoming parents.
My Background and Approach
I am an EMDR-trained therapist whose approach is compassionate, creative and non-judgmental. I am also influenced by cognitive approaches which can help you learn to objectively and compassionately observe your own thoughts and beliefs. I draw from somatic approaches which can help you learn to be with the sensations in your body, move with them, and soothe them, understanding the deep interconnectedness between brain and body. I also draw from mindfulness techniques, polyvagal theory, and internal family systems ("parts" work). I pay attention to how structural oppression, intergenerational trauma and historical factors have shaped your lived experience and the pain that is present now, and also the resilience you hold.
