About My Clients
I specialize in neurodivergent, queer folk who really like exploring different aspects of themselves or people who really need different skills for navigating the world; whether that be exploring new ways of approaching therapy or figuring out why the old ways haven't worked. Sometimes that looks like learning about different parts of the brain and why it functions the way it does, and sometimes that looks like exploring different ways of grounding even if you feel reluctant about meditation.
My Background and Approach
I am dually licensed and have experience in treating substance use (specifically methamphetamine and alcohol) use disorder from a harm reductive way, as well as complex trauma, ADHD and supporting folks with late diagnosed Autism (either formal or self diagnosed). Because of the people who I was seeing in clinic, I saw a strong need to be trained in EMDR and sought additional trainings in complex trauma and dissociative abilities (Anchored Relational Therapy) I believe strongly in autonomy and choice. Therapy with me often centers around exploration of your values and understanding what's important to you and you making the best choices for yourself. My clients often hear that while I do secretly love telling people what to do, that doesn't align with who I am as a person, so I'm happy to sit back and let you lead the way.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I've spent the majority of my therapy career working in Queer, poly, trans spaces. I'm happiest when I'm around folks who are comfortable being exactly who they are! As for me, in addition to a therapist, I have a nearly 20 year background in meditation, physical movement and empowerment self defense and do pull those ideas and concepts into therapy sessions.
