About My Clients
My clients want to understand themselves and their habits better. Do you have a darker side of yourself that you don't share with many others, for fear of judgment? Want to do things better, but might have some doubts about whether you can? Feel like you were not taught how to be an adult, and are just making it up as you go? I can help you get a clearer picture of yourself, without so many pesky self-judgments.
My Background and Approach
I am very interested in helping you understand yourself better. Whether it’s a specific pattern you are wanting to shift, dealing with difficult memories, or discovering more of the person you want to be, I can help. I believe reducing shame and increasing self-acceptance are fundamental to growth and healing, so I pay particular attention to the inner critic. Two tools that Ilike to employ are astrology and the enneagram. They both provide good starting points for describing personality in terms of habits and potential. I have a Master’s degree in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, and trained at Golden Gate Integral Counseling Center in San Francisco. I have been practicing since 2013 and plan to be fully licensed in 2019. Currently I practice through Grateful Heart Holistic Therapy Center.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am physically disabled and a wheelchair user, and that has been my inroad into understanding the dynamics of privilege and oppression. The political is personal. I appreciate the challenges of trying to be conscious humans in today’s world. Becoming the kind of man I can be truly proud of is an ongoing aspiration of mine, made more difficult by a lack of quality role models. This is why I think men’s work is so important, that we can learn from each other as we create identities that truly work for us. On a personal note, I’m a bit of a nerd, enjoying a variety of movies, tv shows, graphic novels (a.k.a. comic books), and video games. These things help keep me young at heart. I also like contemplating the bigger mysteries like spirituality and consciousness.
