About My Clients

I am not keen on referring to people as clients, but as people who have sought a trained professional to figure things out with. So, if you are struggling to figure out who you are and how you fit into the world, I’m here to help. In spite of my age, I connect with teens and can help you understand your kid and feel better about the sometimes thankless job of parenting. Or if you and your partner are feeling angry, distant and disconnected, let me help you find each other again.

My Background and Approach

With the sometimes overwhelming challenges we face, come kick your shoes off and join me. I have been part of and serving the queer community for over 30 years, and make it a priority to care for the LGBTQ+ community and those exploring their sexual and gender identities. I work with teens, adults, couples/relationships, parents and families. You will find me genuine, open, and affirming, so you can feel safe. I am also straight forward, and use humor and cursing to create a comfortable place for authenticity and imperfection. I blend an insight oriented approach, with pragmatism and problem solving. In being fragile and vulnerable, I try to help people find resilience, flexibility and acceptance. I work to help parents be a parent they can feel good about and that their kids need. And help kids develop in their ability to understand themselves and others. In helping people in all different types of relationships, I focus on healing, attachment, communication, connection and belonging.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in many things, especially compassion, empathy, community and curiosity. It is my fervent wish that we strive to honor what binds us, rather than what divides us; maintaining curiosity and open-hearted engagement in the uniqueness of communities and individuals. I am a fierce advocate that believes the responsibility of citizenship is to fight for those who have less privilege and opportunity. These are the values and principles I was raised with and they have guided me through my choices in life. I stand up for what I stand for, which can fuel hope and idealism at times and hopelessness and despair at others. I always try to remain optimistic that the “arc of history bends towards justice” and that we will do a better job of recognizing and validating our shared humanity, and caring for one another, rather than being fearful of the other.
