About My Clients
I enjoy working with adults with anxiety, depression, chronic pain and chronic pain/illness, grief/loss and trauma. I enjoy working with other therapists, veterans, and the LGBTQIA+ community. My practice is named Misfits Regrowth. Misfit: a person who is not accepted by a particular group of people, especially because their behavior/ideas are different. Regrowth: the act of growing again; something that has grown again: the regrowth of forests after a fire.
My Background and Approach
I'm an LPC with 11 years experience. I am trained in EMDR, CBT, Brainspotting and use tools from PET and DBT informed care. Certified NBCC as well. My ideal client hasn't had things be super easy for them. Having to deal with health issues or not being accepted by friends or family for your gender/sexuality adds another challenge on navigating life. Working together using holistic somatic approaches like Brainspotting and EMDR I want to provide you with a safe, affirming and non-judgmental space for you to heal and grow from harmful life experiences. Collaboratively we can work toward your goals using trauma informed interventions in individual counseling sessions. Multiple trainings including Brainspotting, EMDR through EMDRIA, Military and Trauma Counseling Certification and Integrated Healthcare through University of Michigan. Becoming a supervisor for LLPC's to help them learn, grow and become their best selves is also really important to me.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I support the LGBTQIA+ community, BLM and support the Free Palestine Movement I care deeply for animals, veterans and helping others. I think it is a duty, obligation and honor to unlearn the faulty unhealthy behaviors and replace them with healthy ones. We are meant to learn from others and grow and hopefully leave a positive impact on those around us and I hope to be able to do that.
