Utilizing music as a therapeutic tool to develop towards the maintenance or improvement of your goals: Board-Certified Music Therapist

Therapist in Aurora, CO

About My Clients

Do you ever wish you could express yourself in a way other than words? Imagine a therapeutic journey that centers on your, or your child's preferences and strengths, using them as a guide to achieve non-musical goals. A space where lyrics, harmonies, and rhythms act as compass to direct expression, communication, and empowerment. As a music therapist, I believe in the power of music providing the tools which words may lack. I work with a variety of clients who find music as a strong motivator.

My Background and Approach

I am a Board-Certified Music Therapist and I have received a Bachelor’s degree in Music with a specialization in Music Therapy from Colorado State University. I often get asked what music therapy is and to describe it in a few words - Music therapy is an evidence-based therapeutic practice of addressing a client’s psychosocial, emotional, spiritual and physical needs by a credentialed professional using music interventions. We use music as a motivator to complete specific goal areas that may overlap with other therapy modalities. This is why we use client preferred music, since everyone is a unique and has their own musical taste. Throughout my education, we focused on a neurological-based approach that looked at how the musical components we were applying directly corrected to specific regions and the overall neuroplasticity of the brain. I use the knowledge we learned when assessing the goal areas and how different interventions can best be applied to address that specific goal.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

In both my practice and personal life, I deeply value equality, honesty, patience, and creativity. At Creative Remedies, we strive to provide equal opportunities for all through our economic justice initiative. This initiative includes a complimentary intake session with any or all of our therapists, allowing you to find the provider who best meets your needs. We also operate on a pay-what-you-can model, ensuring that no one is turned away due to financial constraints. Honesty is paramount in my approach, fostering a transparent and trustworthy therapeutic environment. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I understand that all aspects of an individual are integral to one's identity and experiences. These aspects are welcomed and respected in our discussions, ensuring that therapy is a safe space for all. I believe that everyone has the ability to be creative and apply that to different aspects of their life whether that be during a process of healing, recovery, coping etc.
