About My Clients
Do you struggle to function or feel especially burnt out lately? Maybe you've been feeling on edge and having big, confusing reactions when small things go wrong. Maybe you're having a hard time in your relationships, which leaves you feeling lonely and disconnected. Or maybe you've noticed that you're extra hard on yourself and are struggling with the sense that deep down you're not good enough. You deserve to be seen and understood. I'd like to be there to help you figure things out.
My Background and Approach
My approach to counseling is to be genuine and foster a space where you can show up as you are, including the unwanted parts you hide from others and even yourself. My goal as we work together, is for you to begin to develop a sense of safety and feel like you can function better in your life. You'll gain insight into unhelpful patterns and limiting contexts that get in the way of you living a meaningful life. You'll also deepen your ability to care for and be compassionate with yourself and others. I integrate feminist, acceptance, and compassion-focused approaches to best fit each individual client. My work is trauma-informed, relational, and incorporates elements of mindfulness and parts work. I have extensive experience working with young adults and college students (including those from undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools), but enjoy working with all adults. I specialize in counseling for survivors of trauma and perfectionism.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an affirming, inclusive, trauma-informed, anti-racist, sex positive, culturally humble clinician. I actively acknowledge the harmful effects of systemic oppression and am devoted to standing against injustice and incorporating liberatory practices. I strive to create a welcoming space for people of all identities, cultures, abilities, and bodies. I am particularly passionate about empowering survivors of trauma, LGTBQ+ folks, and neurodivergent people as they navigate a world in which they are marginalized and misunderstood. In my free time, I can be found somewhere in nature or snuggling with my partner and pets (2 cats and a dog). I love fantasy worlds and am known to escape to them through reading when I am not trying (but failing) to pick up a new hobby. I'm also a recovering perfectionist who seeks to support others in embracing their stories and healing along the way. I bring a calm, compassionate presence to my sessions and will always be respectful and real with you.
