About My Clients
I enjoy working with clients from all different backgrounds, across race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, and ability. I have particular empathy and compassion for any client who feels their path in life has not followed that of the majority or who have felt marginalized in some way. I am a member of the LGBTQ+ community and have specialized training in working with members of the community in therapy.
My Background and Approach
In my clinical work, I use research-based therapies, primarily cognitive-behavioral therapy. I have received specialized training in couple therapy, the assessment and treatment of PTSD, as well as in clinical work with sexual and gender minority (LGBT) individuals and couples. My approach to therapy is affirming, friendly, and client-focused.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe therapy should be focused on you and that solutions developed in treatment to problems you are having should be grounded in your beliefs and everyday life. That is what makes the work in therapy most transportable into your life outside of the therapy office. I also believe therapy should be collaborative - I bring education and training to our therapy and you bring the most expertise on yourself. Finally, I believe humor should have a respected place in therapy. Laughter is good medicine.
