About My Clients
My clients are motivated to engage in the counseling process, eager to deepen their insight into the patterns that impact their daily lives. My clients tend to be open minded and interested in a holistic approach. They come from diverse backgrounds, identities and beliefs. I see and connect with my clients as humans first, diagnosis second. My clients report improved confidence, relationships and overall quality of their lives after engaging in the counseling process.
My Background and Approach
After graduating college from Duke University in 2001, I was not sure what I wanted to do. I ended up joining City Year, an Americorps program in Washington DC for two years working in the DC public schools. After that, I worked at Borders bookstore before deciding I wanted to pursue my Masters in Counseling and Expressive Arts Therapy. This led me to Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. While expressive arts therapy was the foundation for my counseling career, I have since steeped myself in many additional evidence-based approaches including Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Somatic Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Mindfulness is also an integral part of my work. I work collaboratively with my clients to identify what they most want to get out of therapy so that we can work toward that together. I believe all people ultimately have a compass of truth and inner wisdom within.
